The Scarlett Johansson Social Climbing Tour, Take 2

Scarlett Johansson, the Sir Edmund Hillary of social climbers ('Liz Hurley be damned,' says The Corsair, insolently, after sipping Grappa di Montalcino), slithers her way through Debrett's Peerage. After rummaging through a regrettable encounter with Benicio del Toro, and one Lord Fredrick of Windsor, she appears -- finally -- to have worked her way up to the top of the food chain (The Corsair noshes on Golden Lentil Soup with Lamb Meatballs, Averted Gaze), at least according to Ananova:

"Scarlett Johansson says she would like to go for cocktails with Prince William.

"The star who has just finished filming the as-yet-untitled Woody Allen film in London says she would love to bump into the Prince.

"She said: 'I've never had the opportunity of meeting Prince William. But I'm sure he's a very nice young man. He's very handsome. I would certainly like to meet him some day. Maybe we could go for cocktails?'"

We will refrain from ruthlessly going into the possible ouble meanings in Scarlett's use of "meeting (A controlled belly-laugh, followed by a small closing cough of feigned detachment)," or "cocktails."
