Will Katzenberg Take Over Paramount?

Studio Mogul Peter "Uberguber" Guber, tanned and rested from his end-of-summer haitus in Hawaii, which he practically owns was back with his pal, the amiable Variety honcho Peter Bart to, among other things, speculate that Jeff "The Midget" Katzenberg might take over the prestigous Paramount studios from the increasingly radioactive Brad "Waddaya Mean You're Firing Tom Cruise, Sumner" Grey. Somewhere Michael Eisner is dying just a little bit.

In addition, James Carville --?! -- the Washingtonian mastermind of the successful '92 Clinton campaign made an appearance. He is, apparently, the Executive Producer of "All the Presidents Men," Sean Penn's latest Oscar vehicle, though he is the first to note, "I'm not even sure what an Executive Producer does."

Join the club, Playboy.

We'll go out on a limb, though, that it involves collecting a lusty paycheck and some glory while attaching your name to a project and, generally, being on-call for bedazzling snatches of advice on script and, by the by, casting suggestions. And as far as cast goes, Carville, a notorious womanizer pre-Mary "The Dark Lady" Matalin, noted that having a Hollywood connection brings out in DC a lot of friends who have daughter that "would be just right for a part. (Exaggerated cough suggesting feigned detachment)"

Good to know that Carville, who according to the semi-fictional "Primary Colors" by then New York Magazine political columnist Joe Klein, used to call his '92 political groupie conquests "muffins," is not getting into the casting couch business anytime soon if the conservative Matalin has anything to say about it.
