Phil Zimbardo To Do Colbert Tonight

One of The Corsair's intellectual heroes Professor Phil Zimbardo is going to be on tonight's The Colbert Report. Dr. Zimbardo is a pioneering American psychologist who conducted the Stanford Prison Experiments as well as an educator who is pioneering the "Hero Curriculum" for 5th graders in public schools. Zimbardo has set himself the awesome task of nurturing the heroic imagination in kids. That sounds a hell of a lot more useful to a democratic regime than rote memorization.

Dr. Zimbardo grew up in a low-income urban area in the Bronx during the shadow of WWII. He saw people doing evil things -- robberies, murder -- and spent an entire life trying to: a) Figure out why people do evil, and b) How to stop it.

He's a great man with a healthy sense of humor about the moral seriousness of his life's work. See him on Colbert tonight.
