Should The Daily Beast Absorb Newsweek.com or Vice Versa?

Are you as fascinated as I am with Tina Brown at Newsweek? There is some social media backlash (when isn't there?) about whether or not Newsweek -- a 77 year old established brand -- ought to become absorbed into Tina Brown's 2 year old The Daily Beast. From eMediaVitals:

Things have been a little chaotic at Newsweek; things have even been more chaotic at Newsweek.com. The news last week about the merger between The Daily Beast and Newsweek has brought about an interesting digital rift now playing out on Newsweek's official Tumblr microblog, another unofficial one and, of course, on Twitter, where all good media arguments end up nowadays. Backlash was inevitable after Daily Beast Newsweek CEO Stephen Colvin stated the merged company's plans to discontinue Newsweek.com.
No surprise also that Tina Brown took to Twitter to defend herself from the charges leveled on the impromptu Tumblr site started by an anonymous Newsweek employee, saying that Newsweek.com won't simply cease to exist altogether (semantics, really), but it will be absorbed into The Daily Beast's online edition.
Both sides have solid, passionate arguments as to which online entity -- The Daily Beast or Newsweek.com -- ought to be "absorbed" into the other. Let's take a look at what they say ...
